How to Plan Your First Trip to China

A successful first journey is less about collecting cities and more about choosing a clear route, realistic pace and reliable support.

Start with one travel corridor

For seven to ten days, combine two or three well-connected places rather than crossing the whole country. Beijing with Shanghai and Jiangnan works for history and modern life; Chengdu with Chongqing suits food and culture; Guilin or Zhangjiajie works when scenery is the priority.

Protect time for arrival

Keep the first day light. Airport procedures, mobile payment setup and jet lag can change the pace. A private transfer and a flexible first evening are usually more valuable than another timed attraction.

Confirm the practical details

Before payment, confirm hotel names, room types, guide language, vehicle size, attraction reservations, train classes and every included or excluded item. International airfare and entry eligibility should be checked separately.
